|
Emergency heat is a common term for auxiliary heat. Auxiliary heat is an electric secondary heater that heats quickly and to a higher temperature than the heat pump is capable of on its own. Most heat pump thermostats have an emergency (emer) switch or button to allow the auxiliary heat be the primary heat if the heat pump quits.
