Q: What is the filter made of?

A: The filter is made of pure cellulose. (There is NO formaldehide in the filter)

 

Q: How long will the evaporative cooler cool on a water fill?

A: The unit will cool for approximately 5 to 10 hours depending on the humidity.

 

Q: What size room will it cool?

A: The evaporative cooler will cool an average size room of about 170 to 200 square feet.

 

Q: What is the best location for the cooler?

A: The best location for the cooler is the hottest part of the room.

 

Q: Will the unit work with a GFI outlet?

A: Yes, the unit is supplied with a grounded plug that will work with a GFI outlet.

 

Q: What should you do if the unit develops mold?

A: In most cases the unit should not develop any mold since it is a closed system. But if it does develop mold it can be cleaned by using 1/8 of a cup of Clorox bleach in each side tank. (Note: make sure you have a new filter ready to put in after cleaning). Run the unit for 15 min and then turn it off and let it sit for 24 hours. Then run it for another 15 min to clear any build up out. Next drain unit, replace filter and refill with clean cold water. To prevent mold or scale you can use a water conditioner designed for evaporative coolers or humidifiers.

 

Q: Water is leaking out of the back of the unit by the filter?

A: In most cases this is caused by the filter panel not being seated correctly into the base. Remove the filter panel. Once removed check that all of the tubes located at the bottom of the panel are straight and that there are no obstructions. Next re-insert filter panel make sure that you have lined up all of the water return tubes into the holes at the base of the unit. Also make sure the unit is on a level surface and the side tanks are seated properly.

 

Q: For best cooling what speed should I run the fan?

A: The unit should be run in low for best possible cooling.

 

Q: Can the unit be used as a fan only?

A: Yes, you can do this by turning just the fan switch on and leaving the pump switch in off.

 

Q: The refill water light continues to blink, even though Water Tanks are full?

A: The water may not be flowing into the Base unit. Check side tanks to make sure they are seated properly. When seated properly you should be able to hear water flowing into base unit. If water does not flow to the base take off one of the tanks and shake the base unit, that should start the flow of water. Replace the second tank once the first one is near empty.

 

Q: The cooler Pad does not get wet after several minutes of operation.

A: Make sure the low water light is out, that the fan is running and the pump switch is in the on position. If water is still not flowing than try running the unit in high for about 15 minutes. If starts working switch back to low. If sill not working then the Water Distribution Holes may be clogged. Turn Fan and Pump switches to off. Unplug unit from wall. Remove filter assembly (see filter replacement section) Locate the drip tub clear the holes located on the bottom of the tub and use a paper clip to clean them out.

 

Q: The cooler Fan does not operate.

A: Make sure unit is fully plugged into the outlet. Check outlet to see if there is power coming to it. If all looks good, then the fan thermal overload breaker may have activated; unplug unit and wait 30 minutes and try again.

 

Q: Is it normal for one side tank to empty before the other?

A: Yes, In most cases one will empty then the other.


Q: Will it hurt the water pump if the water runs out?

A: No

 

Q: Will the unit work in a 110 volt outlet?

A: Yes, It will work in a 110 volt outlet.

 

Q: Can I use an extension cord with this unit?

A: Yes as long as the extension cord has a grounded plug and is of proper gage.
